In
response to mounting complaints about night-time vehicle checks, the Gurugram
Traffic Authority has rolled out new, stricter guidelines. Spearheaded by the
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Traffic, these measures aim to mitigate
driver inconvenience while ensuring road safety.
Road safety is a critical issue in India, given the
consistently high incidence of road accidents and fatalities. Two-wheelers are
involved in nearly 44% of road crashes, while pedestrians make up around 17%,

the government is developing a comprehensive plan to address road safety
challenges.
As India grapples with the challenge of road safety, it is

issue. According to the “Road Accidents in India-2022” report from the Ministry
of Road Transport and Highways, there were 461,312 reported road accidents in
India in 2022, resulting in 168,491 fatalities and 443,366 injuries. This
represents an 11.9% increase in accidents, a 9.4% increase in fatalities, and a
15.3% increase in injuries compared to the previous year.
