On July 10, the ITS India Forum orchestrated a pivotal Round Table Conference aimed at pioneering the Comprehensive National ITS Policy. Distinguished industry experts and policymakers from Niti Aayog and various Ministries congregated to kick off this momentous initiative.

With over 150 global experts in attendance, the conference delved into discussions on harnessing cutting-edge technologies such as AI, ML, IoT, Sensors, ADAS, 5G, CV2X, and Cloud Computing to address transportation challenges and rapidly optimize solutions in India.

The ITS India Forum, a non-profit Think Tank comprising luminaries from diverse industries, academia, and policy circles, is committed to fostering collaborations with global ITS forums. This collaboration aims to propel research, innovation, emerging standards, and best practices tailored specifically to the Indian context.

In a country as vast and diverse as India, relying solely on manual systems to govern road traffic is proving to be untenable. Despite stringent regulations, the alarming rise in road accidents persists, largely attributed to human errors, over speeding, and reckless driving. Embracing these technological advancements presents an opportunity to cultivate a safer and more intelligent mobility ecosystem in India.

The overarching objective transcends mere innovation and awareness-raising efforts. The ITS India Forum is dedicated to democratizing access to these technologies and making them more affordable to foster widespread adoption.

The key focus areas poised to shape the future of mobility in India include:

👉 Promoting regional connectivity in the digitalized transport landscape

👉 Encourage the development of inclusive transport facilities

👉 Prioritizing the integration of diverse transport modes

👉 Cultivating partnerships and commitments for scalability

👉 Exploring innovative financing mechanisms involving multiple stakeholders

👉 Improve the regulatory framework to support public-private partnerships

👉 Implementing inventive monitoring and evaluation processes

👉 Enabling capacity building of human resources through knowledge sharing, experience exchange, and best practices dissemination

The conference featured esteemed speakers such as Mr. Sudhendu J Sinha, Advisor Transport Niti Aayog; Mr. B N Puri, Former Principal Advisor Transport Niti Aayog; Deputy Director Generals from the Ministry of Telecom; Profs from IITs; and industry stalwarts from Qualcomm, Nokia, Dell, Hitachi, and other top players.

A notable highlight was the rendezvous with the Honorable Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari. The discussion revolved around the deployment of technology solutions championed by the ITS India Forum to revolutionize the mobility landscape in India. Minister Gadkari's unwavering support and visionary outlook towards embracing technology for a safer and advanced transportation system stand as a beacon of inspiration.

In unity, we can forge a future of mobility that is not only safer and more efficient but also cost-effective. Together, let's shape the future of mobility in India!
