The AI-Based Technology Will Make India's Roadways Safer to Drive On
Road traffic incidents can be unpleasant and traumatic. What if technology could assist in their reduction? Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered solutions may soon make India’s roads safer to drive on.
To combat the problem of road accidents, Artificial Intelligence (AI) research will assist in identifying probable accident-causing conditions while driving a vehicle. With the support of the Advance Driver Assistance System, the technology will warn drivers about a possible collision (ADAS).
It is now being implemented in Nagpur, but it will be duplicated in other cities as well. The Telangana government is currently in talks to use the technology in a fleet of buses. There are also discussions underway to expand the scope of this technology to include Goa and Gujarat. The unique AI technique might forecast and identify risks on the road, as well as create a collision alarm system that sends timely alerts to drivers, to improve road safety in a variety of ways.
The project will also detect “greyspots” through data analysis and mobility analysis, as well as continuously monitor dynamic dangers across the entire road network. The need to identify ‘greyspots’ is critical because if left neglected, they can turn into blackspots (locations with fatal accidents). Furthermore, the technology monitors roads in real-time and creates technical solutions to address existing road blackspots for preventive maintenance and enhanced road infrastructure. In addition, the Technology Innovation Hub is coordinating, integrating, and amplifying basic and applied research in broad data-driven technologies, as well as its dissemination and translation across the country.
The AI project will enable researchers, startups, and the industry to prepare a key resource for future use by researchers, startups, and industry, primarily in the fields of smart mobility, healthcare, and smart buildings. Furthermore, not only will it aid in the reduction of road accidents, but it will also serve as a model for developing realistic solutions that are appropriate for Indian conditions.
It is a system for dealing with probable road accidents in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner.
